Auto-evaluación: Otoño
1. Revisit your list of strength and weaknesses (fortalezes-y-dibilidades.php?temp-new-window-replacement=true) that you created at the beginning of the year. Are there changes that you would make? Explain.
After looking at my list, I can say that I have fewer weakness that originally. I no longer have trouble with the imperfect and preterit. Also, commands are no longer difficult for me. And, although I still have trouble with listening comprehension, that ability is starting to get better and better.
2. Review the entries in your portfolio. In your opinion, what is your best piece of work that you have completed so far this year? Describe.
My best work in Spanish is the Maríanela summary. I understood conjugations well and the writing made sense. I did not make as many small grammar mistakes like I usually do. The point of this activity was to summarize the story. This summary reflects my knowledge of the book and the proficiency that I had in reading the story.
3.Why did you choose this work? What does it demonstrate about your abilities as a Spanish student? Be specific.
In this work I used many different tenses of verbs effectively and there were not many grammatical errors. This work shows that I am improving my grasp of how to effectively use the language while writing.
4.What did you do well in this assignment?
My ideas and organization were good, but above all, my grammar was much better than it was earlier and the writing was free of easily fixed issues.
5. Thinking of realistic goals, what is one way to improve upon this assignment?
I can improve my grammar by writing as a Spanish speaker would, rather than an English speaker. Also, more vocabulary would be helpful so that circumventing won't be needed and my ideas will be much clearer.
6.What are your expectations and personal goals for next semester in this class?
I hope that I can improve my grammar while writing. I also want to improve my ability to speak Spanish, as well. I also would like to expand my vocabulary and get better and listening comprehension.
Auto-evaluación: Primavera
1. Describa el contenido de su portafolio.
My portfolio has many works that I have written this year that I am very proud of. There is my ¿Quién Soy Yo? piece which is a description of myself that I wrote early in the year. Then there is the summaries of Maríanela and Bajo la Misma Luna. These are both writings about different forms of Spanish literature or movies. Next there is the public announcement that I recently wrote about air pollution in México. Lastly there are the evaluations I made as well as others on my portfolio and a early list of my strengths and weaknesses with the Spanish language.
2.En su opinión, ¿cuál es la mejor obra del portafolio? ¿Qué representa la obra en cuanto a sus destrezas en español? ¿Qué es una cosa en la cual puede mejorar? Explique y sea específico.
The best piece of writing in my portfolio is the summary of Bajo la Misma Luna. This work effectively shows my skills with grammar and general idea portrayal with Spanish. Although this is my best piece of writing, it still has some things that can be improved. There are still small grammar mistakes that detract from the work. Also many times I do not know the tense I wish to write in so the sentences can appear to be disjointed.
3. Describa su habilidad de hablar y entender en español. ¿Qué son algunas fortalezas y debilidades que tiene en cuanto a la elección de vocabulario y el uso de la gramática que aprendió este año? ¿Cómo es su habilidad de expresar un mensaje y entender un mensaje?
I am not the best Spanish speaker, but I do enjoy it. I am alright at understanding others in Spanish, but I do not always understand every word. Most of the time I look for specific words that I can understand and base the speakers message off of those words. When I am speaking, I am not very fast and it takes time for me to formulate what I would like to say, but thanks to this class, I am able to speak with correct grammar and a good base of vocabulary to communicate my point.
4. Describa su habilidad de escribir en español. ¿Qué son algunas fortalezas y debilidades que tiene en cuanto a la elección de vocabulario y el uso de la gramática que aprendió este año? ¿Como es su habilidad de expresar un mensaje y entender un mensaje?
Writing is a bit easier than speaking for me, but it is less enjoyable. I have more strenths when I am writing because I have more time to think and make sure that my message is clear and that I am using the right grammar. With vocabulary and the grammar we have learned, I am able to convey an expressive message, and with the reading comprehension practice that we have done, I am able to understand the message of many pieces of Spanish writings fairly well.
5. Explique sus planes para su futuro en cuanto al idioma y la cultura española. ¿Continuará estudiando el lenguaje? ¿Quiere visitar a un país hispanohablante? Piensa Ud. que usará el español como adulto en una profesión? ¿Qué destreza(s) quiere mejorar?
Spanish is definitely something that I want to pursue and learn more about. Next year I am continuing my Spanish education with Spanish IV and I am also going to visit Costa Rica with our class to immerse myself in the language. Right now I am not sure what I am going to do in college, and what major I will seek, but I will definitely take Spanish classes to preserve my knowledge of the language.
